This site is a shop window for the programmes we represent. It does not track you, it does not profile you, and it sets no cookies of its own. Everything on it — the text, the pictures, the fonts and the showreel on the home page — is served from nmv.tv itself. The only other company involved is Vimeo, and only if you choose to play a programme reel. This notice explains the little personal data that does arise, and applies to everyone who uses the site, including visitors in the United Kingdom and the European Union.
Who we are
New Media Vision Trading Ltd (“NMV”, “we”, “us”) is the data controller for this website.
- Registered in England & Wales, company number 07033089
- Registered office: Flat 4 Sunflower Court, 173 Granville Road, London NW2 2BF, United Kingdom
- Email: sales@nmv.tv · Telephone: +1 (323) 538-5740
We handle personal data under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018. If you are in the European Economic Area, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) also protects you, and this notice is written to meet both.
What this website collects
Nothing that identifies you, unless you choose to write to us. There is no analytics software on this site, no advertising or tracking pixels, no social media buttons that report back, and no fonts or scripts fetched from other companies. We do not know who visits, how often, or what you looked at.
A few technical points, for completeness:
- Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs. Like every web server, it records the requests it serves — IP address, date and time, the page requested, and your browser's user-agent string. These logs exist to keep the site running and secure, which is our legitimate interest and the legal basis for them. We do not use them to build a picture of individual visitors, and they are deleted automatically once they are no longer needed for that purpose.
- Two settings can be saved in your own browser. If you switch between the
dark and light versions of the site, that choice is saved under the key
nmv-theme; if you tick “Don’t ask again” before playing a reel, that choice is saved undernmv-reels. Neither is a cookie, neither leaves your device, and neither reaches us. They exist only to do what you asked for, and clearing your browser data removes them.
When you contact us
If you write to us — by email, or through the form on our contact page, to ask about a title, request a screener, or submit a project — we process what you send in order to reply and to do business with you. That means your name, your email address, your employer, and whatever you choose to put in the message.
The form asks for your name, email address and message, which we need in order to reply, and optionally your company and the topic. When you press send, our web host passes them to sales@nmv.tv as an ordinary email. The website itself keeps no copy, sets no cookie and uses no third-party service to do this.
- To answer your enquiry, the legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to business correspondence.
- Where a deal follows, it is the performance of a contract with you or your company, or the steps leading up to one.
- For the records we must keep, such as invoices, it is our legal obligation under UK company and tax law.
We keep business correspondence for as long as the relationship is live and then for as long as we need it as a commercial and tax record — normally six years from the end of the relevant financial year. We do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to anyone who is not working on that enquiry with us.
You do not have to give us any personal data to use this site. If you write to us, we need your email address in order to reply.
Marketing
We do not run a mailing list from this website and there is nothing here to subscribe to. If you have asked us about a title, we may follow up about that enquiry. You can tell us to stop at any time by replying to any message or writing to sales@nmv.tv, and we will.
Programme reels and Vimeo
Our sizzle reels are hosted by Vimeo, Inc., a company in the United States. They play inside this site; any that cannot open on vimeo.com instead. Nothing at all is requested from Vimeo when a page loads, so reading a programme page involves no third party.
When you press play on a reel, the site first tells you that it is about to connect you to Vimeo, and the player loads only when you press “Play the reel”. That is your consent, and it is the legal basis for this step. From that moment your browser talks to Vimeo directly: Vimeo can see your IP address and which page you are watching from, and it may set its own cookies. We ask Vimeo not to track the session, using the setting it provides for that purpose, though we cannot audit what it does with the request. Vimeo may show us, as the account holder, overall play counts for our reels, but nothing that tells us who you are. Closing the player removes it from the page and ends the connection.
For the moment the player is loaded, we and Vimeo share responsibility for that connection; everything Vimeo does with the data afterwards is governed by Vimeo's privacy policy.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by closing the player. If you ticked “Don’t ask again”, you can undo that here:
The showreel on the home page is a file hosted by us and plays with no third party involved.
Links to other sites
Where a page links out — to a trade report, an industry body, a broadcaster, or a reel on vimeo.com — that site's own privacy policy and cookies apply once you follow the link, not ours.
Where your data goes
We work from London and Los Angeles and deal with broadcasters and producers worldwide, so an email you send us may be read by the people handling it in the United States as well as the United Kingdom.
When personal data passes to another company outside the UK or the European Economic Area, we rely on a safeguard the law recognises. The European Commission recognises the United Kingdom as giving adequate protection, so data can flow from the EU to us. Vimeo takes part in the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension, which the EU and the UK both recognise for transfers to certified US companies; you can check its listing at dataprivacyframework.gov. Where neither applies, we use the standard contractual clauses approved for that purpose.
Your rights
Wherever you are, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- have it corrected if it is wrong, or erased;
- restrict how we use it, or object to our using it on the basis of our legitimate interests;
- receive data you gave us in a portable form;
- withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis — this does not affect anything done before you withdrew it.
We make no decisions about you by automated means, and we do not profile visitors. Write to sales@nmv.tv; there is no charge, and we will respond within one month.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to a data protection authority. In the United Kingdom that is the Information Commissioner's Office, at ico.org.uk. In the European Union you can complain to the authority in the country where you live or work, or where you believe the problem arose; the European Data Protection Board keeps a list of them.
Changes to this notice
If we ever add analytics, or anything else that collects data, this notice will be updated before it goes live, and the date at the top will change.
